Here are the character profiles from Fort Search 2009!
History:
Urei is weyr-bred from Telgar Weyr, and for many Turns was taught by the Weyrharper there. Finding himself more interested in the scrolls and books of information in the archives than playing with other children, he never fully developed his social abilities. He finally became an Apprentice at the Harper Hall at Fort Hold, where he shortly was overcome with anxiety with the massive amounts of action that take place at the Main Hall. So, instead, the Apprentice chose to move to nearby Fort Weyr, more comfortable with the weyr setting than the manic Hall, strangely enough. He is not necessarily quiet nor shy, but rather enjoys his alone time over people time, but he is willing to talk, have fun, etc. And he has a strange fascination with ballroom dancing, he might even offer to teach a few lessons to anyone.
Urei has always enjoyed the atmosphere of the weyr, although wild and often unpredictable he grew up in a weyr and therefore is more used to the activities. It would be overly assuming to say that Urei made lots of friends at the weyr, as he is less likely to make friends and instead tends to more make what could be considered 'acquaintances'. A few people he's become close to, but given his more stoic nature it would be difficult to read how he truly feels.
Then arrives M'tr, and Urei found himself choosing the side against the new Weyrleader, preferring the former Weyrleader Th'deus' leadership style. The interactions between the Harper and M'tr were often confrontational and the final result ended with Urei denying M'tr's direct orders and getting himself assaulted by the Weyrleader (and he was licked too). In response to this Master Harper Arybella withdrew all Harpers from Fort Weyr until M'tr was removed from his position. Stuck at the Hall, Urei often found excuses to escape or hide with his studies, too annoyed by the less focused Apprentices. One day, after aiding her Lifemate, Weyrlingmaster Madri arrived at the Hall to discuss a few matters with the Harper Apprentice and ended in the young man being told (not really requested) by Nidhgoth and Madri to first sing and next to stand as a Candidate for Eviyath and Goreanth's clutch. Sometime after that, before he became officially a candidate, Urei was promoted to Harper Journeyman for his work on Weyr history and law.
Family:
Urei was the result of a mating flight between Telgari greenrider Ranei and bluerider U'ro, immediately fostered off to the lower caverns ladies as most flight spawn do. The rider pair were not weyrmates, so it is assumed that there most likely are a plethora of siblings and half-siblings running around Telgar Weyr. Although his biological parents were not /completely/ absent from his life, they had a very hands off approach to the young boy and so Urei grew to treat the nannies as his mothers and the other weyrbrats as siblings, although interaction with either was limited. The only person that Urei could actually refer to as family (although still not blood-related) would be the WeyrHarper, Nason, who saw Urei's potential at a young age and taught him up until his apprenticeship at the Harper hall.
Personality:
Urei's most obvious quirk would be his eloquence and verbose nature, as stated above, he was raised taking lessons from the Weyrharper, often with older apprentices that Nason was mentoring. The result of this early education caused him to completely despise his rather uncultured roots (accents and all) for a more refined lifestyle, hence his speech pattern. He is also highly educated on traditions, history and law and even if he doesn't participate in many activities, he often knows the historical development of such. He also likes to stare, a creepy nature of his, to analyze every person he meets and gather information about them, it is not a surprise when he tends to know secrets about you without you ever sharing them. Although capable of socializing, Urei tends to keep to himself and works diligently to fulfill what he considers his duty. That is the most important thing to Urei, duty, whether it be being a Harper or Candidate, Urei does what he knows is traditionally his duty and respects the restrictions his position places, there are (typically) no rules broken by the man. When it comes to flirtation and in general the aspects of sex, Urei is highly inexperienced and will become quite embarassed at the prospect of someone hitting on him or the suggestion that he might be flirting with someone (L'ryl likes to tease him about that).
As if his red hair is hiding some deep secret, deep down inside Urei is passionate, he is a flame just ready to explode, but when it does he becomes severely embarassed. A few times he has slipped, whether it be from enormous amounts of pestering from Th'deus' firelizards or during an intense dance performance, his eyes light up and his language slips back to a Telgari accent and he becomes a different person, more passionate than before. But these moments often cause Urei to become embarassed, for it is when he loses control and he desperately tries to hold onto his personality tightly. But it doesn't mean that one shouldn't prod and poke him until he does, because that is just plain fun.
Feelings About Dragons:
Being Weyrbred and Duty focused, Urei sees dragons as our infallible protectors and their riders great heroes of the past, present and future. And while he does understand all of this, and knowing the tendency of the children of riders to become riders themselves, Urei also knows the fact that probability never bodes well for candidates, there are finite eggs and almost infinite pool of candidates. Although daydreams may lead him to think of himself as one day being a rider, he often grounds himself with fact and his studies to not get up his hopes. Having grown up with the creatures Urei does not fear dragons at all (unless it is Goreanth) because he believes most to be benevolent, and in conversation he will typically refer to the dragon directly rather than go through the rider. Dragons are what allows Pernese to thrive and therefore deserve our utmost loyalty and respect, bowing to a dragon or dragonrider is a habit that has formed over time with the man.
Favorite Eggs:
After the first touching:
#1 The Unsorted Books Egg
#2 Ssssso Stinky Egg (still, pulls me in)
#3 Lost Little Marble Egg
From First looks:
The Tie-dye Guy Egg, The Unsorted Books Egg, Ssssso Stinky Egg (yes, it is stinky and it intrigues me)
History:
Pretty uninteresting here. Her parents are both Harpers, her mother Jaspera originally from Keroon River Hold and her father Sheffield bred from some of the best Harpers in the Craft (or so it is said). Needless to say, the couple are talented and so are many of their children. Saphia, however, is not. At least not when it comes to music and the arts.
So one of Sheffield's dearest Healer friends decided to foster the girl and wouldn't you know it she makes a mighty fine Healer Apprentice. She excelled in all her theory but lacked good people skills and had terrible bed side manners. There were always rumours flying that Saphia was just one complaint away from being kicked out of the Craft and yet somehow she'd always end up returning to classes come the following term.
When Saphia found herself Searched by M'tr's bronze Goreanth at Eviyath's clutching, some folks believed it was no coincidence that a dragon who would pick someone as cruel and heartless as M'tr as a lifemate would pick Saphia as a Candidate. And Candidacy under M'tr's iron fist isn't sitting well with the girl unaccustomed to arduous chores.
Family:
Saphia's immediate family includes mother Jaspera, father Sheffield, and countless siblings. She has a very strained relationship with her mother and all her sisters. She is on better terms with her brothers.
The main artery of her family comes from the Harpercraft where he father's family is a near-constant presence. At any given time any number of relatives could be at the Hall but Saphia doesn't have much to do with them. They're a reminder of all her feelings of inadequacy being the talentless daughter of a very artistic family.
Jaspera's side of the family is far less involved which might be a reason why Saphia prefers them. Not to say she enjoys her mother's side of the family but she'd pick them over Sheffield's harpering relations any day.
Personality:
Saphia is best described as frustrating. Sometimes she's nice as pie but generally she treats the world like an inconvenience. She's very selfish and curt, doesn't typically consider the feelings of others, and as a whole is very disconnected from the public.
There are a few good traits about her: she'll rarely if ever pick sides and can be a good moderator in arguments she isn't actively engaged in, she really is a great Healer even if she has no bedside manners to speak of, and every so often you can tell that somewhere beneath layers of tough skin and hardened heart there is a pleasant person hiding.
But she'd rather you see the great cold stone fortress that makes up her outward disposition built upon sarcasm and criticism, studying you curiously from one of her lofty towers.
Feelings About Dragons:
Saphia has no obvious feelings about dragons. Whatever her opinions are she keeps them to herself. That being said, whenever she's in the presence of one she's drawn to watching them like a true researcher. She keeps an eye on specific dragons and appears to mentally monitor and otherwise observe the habits and activities of them, currently watching Mrrth and Goreanth.
Favorite Eggs:
Beloved Collectible Droid Egg
Tarnished Jewelry Egg

History:
Tannen. There isn't much to say for Tannen and her history, as it's been a rather short and borring life thus far: She was born to a baker and rider after a flight brought them together, but their feelings kept them together for turns.
Oldest of a few siblings, Tannen was urged into helping her mother in the kitchens the day she was old enough to reach the sinks and wash the pots - with a stool! From there sh emoved up through the ranks, and was among food prep and baking staff, when she was found to be 'of interest' by L'ryl's blue Irajath
Family:
Mother: Tanna
Father: F'aren
Siblings: Three younger, all currently unnamed.
Personality:
Tannen is a helpful sort, always ready to lend a hand. Before Search, she was a rather shy gal, though now that she has become more centered out, with much less chances to just blend into the crowded, noisy kitchen, she has been gaining a sense of self, and a good strong belief that she can do things on her own.
Feelings About Dragons:
Tannen has lived around the dragons all her life, and nothing's changed her views, just because she's searched she's not going to suddenly be awe-struck. She respects them, but will often direct comments towards the dragon, instead of their rider, when she doesn't know the rider herself.
Favorite Eggs:
Patchwork Quilt Egg
Old Ragdoll Egg
Pile O' Junk Egg

Please note: Work in progress! Not completed.
History:
A weyrbrat through and through, Burant has bounced between Ista and Fort for the majority of his life. Raised dominantly by his father, B'roughs from Ista, until he was 13, he shifted to Fort Weyr as a guard when he was old enough.
Family:
Father: B'roughs, Rider of blue Inigoth at Ista
Mother: R'ish, Rider of brown Maialeth at Fort
Siblings: Random and various.
He more closely identifies his father as a father figure than his mother as a mothering influence. R'ish was a teacher, and co-conspirator for the most part, though he loves them both deeply. He has little attachment for any of his siblings having known most of them only in passing.
Personality:
Laid back. On the surface he's usually easy going and amiable. He tends to be very flexible when dealing with the grey areas of existence. He's slow to judgement, but when he does make a judgement it takes acts of god and congress (conclave?) to change his mind. This can make him very, very loyal and very, very distrusting in the same
Feelings About Dragons:
Favorite Eggs:
History:
As willing as Lisyana is to speak, her history is not well known. Well, Lysa's history, for she insists on that name those almost half of those who hail from Ista call her Lisyana first. Still and all, it seems she's from Ista's Hold, and was something of a messenger/runner type - at the very least, she excels at the morning run, despite being so short.
Family:
Again, nothing she speaks of. On the other hand, the visiting Q'luin treats her like a little sister, even to the point of trying to ground her - and her usually retaliating with blackmail.
Personality:
Sweet and cheerful and friendly. Also, vicious with a foot to the shin.
Feelings About Dragons:
She adores 'em. According to her, there's no dragon out there that isn't her friend. Speaking to them personally rather than their rider if both are present, she likes to give 'em gifts for whatever the reason. Well, if she has access to flowers.
Favorite Eggs:
Tarnished Jewelery Egg
Old Ragdoll Egg
Swarovski Crystal Egg
